e-vangelism
The mission field is just a click away.

I rejoiced with my friend Loring as I viewed photos from her recent missions trip to Uganda. Another friend, Laurie, had just returned from Belize, where she helped build Sunday school rooms. That night, as I prayed for both friends, I added another prayer: that I could also share my faith with people around the world.
Before I said, “Amen,” God reminded me of my Internet evangelism. Today, the World Wide Web allows me to share my faith in ways missionaries 20 years ago couldn’t imagine. Here are seven ways you can do the same.
1. Start your own blog (Web journal), telling stories of your daily walk with Jesus.
2. E-mail articles about faith, God and eternal life to your friends and loved ones and ask, “Could you read this so we can talk about it?”
3. When you go on a short-term missions trip or meet international students, exchange e-mail addresses. Through e-mail you can foster friendships, share Scripture verses and write about what Jesus means to you.
4. Include an advice column on your Web site. Invite visitors to ask questions. You can share about your faith in God while providing tips on everything from gardening to dating.
5. If you have a strong biblical knowledge, join a chat room for the purpose of sharing your faith with non-Christians.
6. Include a “how to find true hope” page on your Web site. Tie the salvation message into the topic or theme of your site. For example, if it’s a sci-fi site, use sci-fi analogies. If it’s a weight loss site, write about a makeover from the inside out.
7. Write out your testimony. Edit it, and save it in a file so you can adapt it for specific purposes and people through e-mail or chat rooms. Who knows what doors God will open for you to share?
Yes, I still plan on taking a short-term missions trip someday, but I’m thankful that Internet evangelism brings a new meaning to international missions and allows me to share God’s love with the world without leaving home.
