Colorado Ministry Identifies Three Organizations Providing In-Country Assistance

On May 3, Cyclone Nargis — a Category 4 hurricane with 120 mph winds — slammed into Myanmar, spawning a tidal wave, killing approximately 130,000 people and leaving more than 1 million homeless survivors in its wake. Myanmar's isolationist military junta, bowing to international pressure, has only recently begun allowing a trickle of assistance to flow in through neighboring Asian countries, a development which puts greater responsibility on the local church community to meet these needs themselves.

Focus on the Family's Disaster Relief team, along with our Global Services team, have identified three organizations — ACTS International, HISG and VisionTrust — who are working through established in-country networks to share the love of Christ through a variety of means with those impacted by the storm.
