Focus on the Family Teams with State of California to Reduce Number of Waiting

"California's waiting kids deserve permanent homes."

August 13, 2009

Colorado Springs, CO -- Of the 127,000 children in America's foster care system waiting for adoptive families, thousands are in California. On September 19, Focus on the Family, along with adoption agencies throughout the state, will join the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services and Orange County Social Services to host Wait No More, a conference designed to encourage families to start the process to adopt California's waiting children.

The Wait No More conference will take place at Calvary Chapel Downey from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Speakers will educate families about adoption as well as address various adjustment issues that accompany the decision to adopt. Agencies will be available on site to answer questions and help families begin the adoption process if ready.

"Our message is simple," said Kelly Rosati, senior director of the Sanctity of Human Life division at Focus on the Family. "California's waiting kids deserve permanent homes. If even a portion of California's more than 10,000 churches got involved, this problem could be solved."

The conference is free, but attendees need to pre-register. For more information or to register, visit www.iCareAboutOrphans.org.
